BONE DENSITOMETRY
In the U.S. it is estimated that 18 million individuals have low bone
mass, placing them at risk for osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is responsible
for 1.5 million fractures in the US each year with most of these occurring
in the hip, spine and wrist. EBT Qualitative Computed Tomography (QCT)
bone densitometry is considered the "Gold Standard" when testing
for osteoporosis. Milwaukee Heart Scan uses a central spine measurement
of the sensitive trabecular bone, which is the method preferred by experts.
This test is highly reproducible and can show changes 2 - 3 times faster
than DXA scans with only a fraction of the radiation. Once bone loss is
detected, therapies are available to stop, slow or even reverse the progression
of the disease.
Many insurance companies will pay for this test with proper documentation
and a physician's order.
QCT FACTS
- QCT is the Gold Standard - the most accurate test for spinal osteoporosis
- A QCT test takes 2 minutes, with no special preparation required
- QCT s the method preferred by Medicare and experts in the field
- This method is the most sensitive and will show the loss of bone or
the response to therapy up to 2 years earlier than other testing methods
